Day 985: A Clear View of Your Earth

For those who struggle to know what's important

The Apollo 13 crew had one job: keep Earth in the window.

Three weeks from my 23rd birthday, I find myself at a familiar crossroads. The work-side of life demands growth, but wisdom demands knowing what is enough.

Both seem existential. Both feel urgent.

So which is more important?

Think of it this way.

Like Tom Hanks guiding that crippled Apollo through the atmosphere, we're all navigating by a fixed point. Too shallow – we burn. Too steep – we bounce off entirely.

The mission isn't about the spacecraft; it's about keeping the long-term goal/destination at the center of all decisions.

There's nothing like a birthday to make you question your trajectory. The venture I started 985 days ago was meant to be a stepping stone, not the destination. It's just one of many possible ships that could carry us where we need to go, so letting it gain full control is shortsightedness.

The parallel becomes clearer each day: in life, as in space, success isn't about the vehicle – it's about keeping your fixed point in view & knowing what it actually is to begin with.

All other decisions flow from there.

For those who struggle to know what's important, perhaps that's the only thing we need to do: keep clear view of our Earth.

With great hope,

Dominyck
